When you convert a song to certain compressed formats, some data might be lost. These compressed formats give you a much smaller file size, which lets you store more songs. But, the sound quality might not be as good as the original, uncompressed format.
If you compress a song and it loses data, you can't uncompress it to retrieve the data. If you convert a song from a compressed to an uncompressed format, its quality doesn't improve. The file only takes up more disk space. An example is when you convert a song in MP3 format (a compressed format) to AIFF (an uncompressed format). The song takes up much more space on your hard disk, but sounds the same as the compressed file. To take advantage of uncompressed formats, you should import songs in these formats.
I am running Ubuntu 20.04 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Tablet. A few years ago I wrote a bash script using soundconverter to transcode some of my music to mp3 files when I need to use a player that only has mp3 capability (like my car and my swimming player). I tried to use my script recently and got the following error
I did some research and found that the faac plugin in not included in the Ubuntu 20.04 package gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad nor -ugly. But I also found that there is a lame (mp3 library) gstreamer plugin which is installed. Additionally I found that running soundconverter in gui mode could transcode to mp3 without problem. So I have three possible solutions but don't know how to pursue any of therm
WAV files are popularly played on Windows Media Players as they are the standard audio format for Windows OS. WAV files are uncompressed and therefore, they are much bigger compared to MP3. The files can contain spoken words, sound effects, or music. They are becoming less popular because of their large size.

Though, it can be argued that English is easy since it has no gender, no word agreement, and no cases. Yet, it does have words such as through, threw, and thru, all sounds the same, but are spelled differently, and can't be used interchangeably.
In order to make sound, your computer must drive the speaker with a time-varying voltage. In order to create the time-varying voltage, the computer must send a sequence of numbers to a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC).
An .mp3 file is a much more sophisticated thing--a mathematical model of a sound, that takes into account the physiology of human hearing. In order to play an .mp3, it must first be "decoded" (i.e., converted into a sequence of numbers to be sent to the DAC.) That is exactly the same sequence of numbers that you would store into the .wav file if, instead of playing the .mp3, you wanted to convert it to .wav format.
So, it's impossible that the sound in a .wav file that was created from an .mp3 is being different in any way from the sound in the .mp3 from which it was created. Playing either one will result in exactly the same sequence of numbers being sent to the DAC, the same time-varying voltage sent to the speaker, the same sound out of the speaker.
Even though WAV files can hold more detailed sound, that doesn't mean they always do. Converting from MP3 to WAV would be one such scenario, the converter cannot just make up the extra added details to add to the WAV files. It can only remove existing details when compressing.
The reason your WAV file is bigger is simply because the converter is putting in multiple copies of the same samples as per the rules of WAV rather than say, referring the machine to the one sample every time that sample needs to be played, as per the rules of MP3.
Permute is super fast, so you should have your audio in the same folder as the video file in no time. Go ahead and feed it some of your movies to see how well it works (you can try Permute converter free of charge for a week when you join Setapp, a subscription for Mac apps.)
Audio files can be overlaid onto video, though. If you've got an audio file that you want to use as a soundtrack or narrative track, simply add it to your favorite video editor as an audio file to have it playing over the video.
So basically I have MP3 files that are strictly "beats" or hip-hop intrumentals that I use to rap over. When I start in logic I make a new Audio Track and drag the MP3 beat into logic. Takes a minute to transfer and then the MP3 copied into logic sounds the same as the original copy no issues. I then rap over the beat and make sure everything sounds smooth. When Im happy I bounce the files to turn into a MP3. So my problem lies now with the finished MP3, the quality is TERRIBLE to say the least. It seems the actual beat has been turned way down (when listening in logic before bounce it sounds great!) As well the actual quality of the beat and the raps has gone way down!
why are you using mp3? when you should know that mp3 has and is a crap sound quality, its an out dated compression format... you should have a read on how mp3 works and then you will realize why you are having issues!.. but i do suppose its so imbedded in the industry over the last few years with mp3 players etc that people just dont know???.. a product of the old internet dialup internet environment.. we now have broadband and harddrives and memory of mp3 players and computers that are now big enough that we dont need to use mp3... we can and should be using wavs!!!!... anyways i just hate mp3s!!!.. lol.
I know, it doesn't make much sense to me either. To be honest, I only did it once and it did sound terrible - I don't even remember which version of Logic it was, so it may be something that's fixed now. I haven't tried it since.
